Diana G. Haven
President & CEO
Diana G. Haven founded Ellipses Public Relations in 2007 after a 15-year career in public relations, marketing and broadcast media. Diana is creative, driven, connected and a champ at interpreting where public relations fits in this modern world of social networks, content creation and event marketing. Diana oversees all operations of the agency, including new business development, staffing and financials, and drives overall client strategy, direction, event production, and project management.
During her time at Ellipses, her clients have included a wide range of top tier restaurants, hotels, chefs, events and cultural institutions. She has secured A-list, national media coverage for Ellipses’ clients in publications such as Travel + Leisure, Martha Stewart Living, Details, Food & Wine, O, The Oprah Magazine and Sunset. On the special events side, her clients have included Wine Enthusiast’s Toast of the Town in San Francisco, San Francisco Cocktail Week, California’s Artisan Cheese Festival, and American Cheese Society’s Annual Conference and Competition.
Prior to founding Ellipses, Diana was Director of Public Relations at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, where she was responsible for media relations, promotions, special event creation and production, community relations, as well as all internal and external communication. During this time, she co-founded and produced Inside the Kitchen, a wildly successful food and wine weekend benefiting Meals On Wheels, generating big buzz and drawing attendance from across the country. In recognition for her efforts, in 2005 she won Public Relations Leader of the Year for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company’s Western Region and the Visionary Achievement Award for Inside the Kitchen. Her efforts, which included a concert series, celebrity chef and culinary classes, and an annual silent auction, contributed to significant increases in top-line revenue and international acclaim by driving annual media impressions from 600 million in 2003 to 1.2 billion in 2005.
Previously, Diana worked as a publicist for Encore Communications, a boutique agency based in San Francisco that specializes in the arts and entertainment; served as public relations manager for Business 2.0, a Time Inc. technology-focused business magazine; worked as a senior booking manager and guest producer at TechTV, a technology entertainment cable channel based in San Francisco; and served as an account associate at Antenna Group Public Relations, where she represented David Bowie’s ISP, Bowie Net.
Diana has a B.A. in Communication from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She lives in Oakland with her husband and is the founder and leader of PR Divas, a 800-member, Bay Area networking group for professional women in public relations.
Evita Broughton, MTA
Evita joined Ellipses with a passion for hospitality, an advanced degree in tourism, and a decade of public relations experience. Throughout her career, the common thread has been working closely with clients to research, develop and execute tailored solutions to enhance and protect their public profile and reputation in an ever-changing marketplace. Evita recently earned a Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) degree with a concentration in sustainable tourism management from George Washington University’s School of Business. She then served as an in-market consultant for tourism development projects in Latin America, where she conducted tour evaluations, visitor surveys and stakeholder interviews to make recommendations on how to increase business in various destinations.
Before pursuing a graduate degree, Evita worked as a public relations professional at two leading global communications agencies: Edelman and Fleishman-Hillard. During her tenure, she provided content creation, media relations, strategic counsel, event management and grassroots outreach for marquee clients in travel/tourism, entertainment, telecommunications and consumer health, including AT&T, Walmart, Cirque du Soleil, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Iberostar Hotels & Resort, American Kidney Fund, IMAX, The Fox Theatre and Stone Mountain Park. Evita has also worked as a freelance consultant, leading media relations for the largest multicultural beauty show in the U.S., resulting in record sales and unprecedented media coverage. In recognition of her work, Evita has won multiple industry awards: Public Relations Society of America (Silver Anvil Award, 2009), Public Relations Society of America – Georgia (Phoenix Awards, 2007-2009) and International Association of Business Communicators – Atlanta (Golden Flame Awards, 2007-2009).
Evita has built relationships with numerous media outlets such as the Associated Press, Washington Post, New York Magazine, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, CNN, BET, National Public Radio, Rolling Out and WhereTraveler, among others, in addition to travel industry organizations such as Destination Marketing Association International, U.S. Travel Association, Proexport Colombia, Brand USA, Destination D.C., Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) and National Geographic.
Born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia, Evita earned undergraduate degrees in advertising and African-American studies from The University of Georgia. When she’s not traveling the world, Evita enjoys reading historical fiction, spending time with her large Southern family and exploring the sights and sounds of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Social Media Manager
Amanda, who hails from Las Vegas, has a passion for all things social media and public relations. She first discovered her love for the travel and hospitality industry after graduating from the UNLV Hank Greenspun School of Journalism & Media Studies. As a graduation gift to herself, she went on her first European backpacking trip, where she drank sangria through Spain, had her first experience with venison in Germany, and devoured true fish and chips at the 2012 London Olympics. After visiting an astounding 15 different countries in 45 days, Amanda returned knowing that she wanted to incorporate her immeasurable passion for travel and food into a thriving career.
Amanda arrived at Ellipses after having the privilege of working with clients such as Donsuemor, Davidson’s Tea, and CANFEST beer festival. She has helped secure placements in publications such as Real Simple, Inc. Magazine, PR Daily, and more. Through one viral Facebook post, Amanda helped the small city of Fallon, Nevada, get its 15 minutes of social media fame. She ran many successful Facebook campaigns, including Davidson’s Tea’s National Picnic Month campaign, which helped grow the social media following on all platforms drastically. She has also had the pleasure of working on a successful Twitter chat with three-time gold medalist and captain of the USA Women’s Soccer team, Christie Rampone, sponsored by EpiCor.
Aside from her public relations and social media experience, Amanda also has an extensive film and television background. She has worked with shows and movies like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Bad Ink, Millionaire Matchmaker, The World Food Championships, and Viena and the Fantomes starring Dakota Fanning. She has done everything from production assisting, writing, working with hosts and guests, and more.
When Amanda isn’t busy posting the next viral Facebook picture or snapping some photos of her most current meal, she can be found somewhere around the world, taking every opportunity she can to travel, whether it’s a weekend trip to Napa or backpacking through Australia.
