Half Moon Bay Brewing Company Launches Sour Beers, Plus Big Game and Valentine’s Day Specials

HALF MOON BAY BREWING COMPANY LAUNCHES OCHO BARRIL SERIES OF SOUR BEERS, AND CELEBRATES THE BIG GAME AND VALENTINE’S DAY WITH MENU SPECIALS

Half Moon Bay, Calif. – January 26, 2016 – The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a popular Coastside destination best known for its award-winning, house-brewed beer, sustainable seafood, live music and an expansive, dog-friendly patio, is kicking off 2016 with the launch of its highly anticipated Ocho Barril series of sour brews crafted by Brewmaster James Costa. In addition, guests are invited to a family-friendly viewing party for The Big Game on Sunday, February 7, and a celebration of Valentine’s Day with apre-fix, four-course beer pairing dinner prepared by Executive Chef Federico Godinez on Friday, February 12, in addition to holiday weekend specials.

Sour Brews
Since his arrival at the Brewing Company in 2013, Brewmaster James Costa has crafted a wide variety of award-winning beers. 2016 will see the release of his most compelling brews yet, including the launch of the Ocho Barril series:

  • Ocho Barril Series No. 1: The first in the long-anticipated Ocho Barril series, the Magic BeerGenie is a Belgian Dark Sour with strong acidity and plenty of funky flavors and aromas at 10.7% ABV. The Ocho Barril Series is named after the batch sizes in which the unique sour ale is produced. A batch of 420 gallons fills eight oak barrels whilst leaving room for the addition of fruits and spices. The beer is then fermented with a combination of Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and Pedioccocus and aged between 12-24 months to create a mélange of bright acidity and a funky barnyard finish. The Magic Beer Genie is available for purchase wholesale (case of 12, 750ml bottles for $150 or 1/6 BBL keg for $170) or retail ($20 per 750ml bottle or $200 per case) at the Brewing Company. In the coming weeks, a version of the Magic Beer Genie with raspberries (Framboise) will also be released.
