American Craft Beer Week
Monday, May 9 – Sunday, May 15

In celebration of American Craft Beer Week, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will offer the following brews on tap:

  • The Student IPA: Brewed with wildflower honey, this specialty West Coast style IPA features a blend of some our favorite hop varietals. It starts out with a light malt sweetness and finishes refreshingly crisp and dry from the high fermentability of the 5% wildflower honey used. The beer has a firm bitterness from Magnum hops followed up by a soft tropical fruitiness with a slight white grape and pine character from a blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Centennial hops used throughout the boil and in dry hopping. ABV 6.6%, 85 IBUs
  • Strawberry-Rhubarb Belgian Blonde: A non-traditional Belgian-style beer using mostly pilsner malt combined with 5% rye malt. This light, easy drinking beer has the luxury of a mellow addition of both strawberries and rhubarb, which provide their own fruity and tart flavors, but also serve to pull out the fruit esters and spice from the Belgian yeast. ABV 5.5 %, 20 IBUs
  • Ale to The Chief “White House” Honey Blonde Ale: White House Honey Ale is the first beer known to have been brewed in the White House. The process began in January 2011 at the request of President Barack Obama who purchased a home brewing kit using his personal funds. As of 2012, three styles have been brewed at the White House: White House Honey Blonde Ale, White House Honey Porter and White House Honey Brown. In honor of these historic beers, the Brewing Company opted to brew the Honey Blonde for summer time because of its light and refreshing nature. Brewed with Toe Cutter orange blossom honey for a soft orange citrussness that’s balanced with a light malt sweetness of 2 row pale barley, this brew is a quaffable thirst quencher. ABV 5.3 %, 20 IBUs
  • Damage Inc. Russian Imperial Stout: Ten varieties of malt make up this monster of a beer. Strong notes of roasted coffee, chocolate and toffee come to the forefront, but the hop character is not to be underestimated. American and English hops complement this king of stouts with a bitterness that counters the heavy malt profile.ABV 10.4%, 82.5 IBUs
Additionally, the Brewing Company will craft a special edition brew in partnership with Ben Spencer of Magnolia Pub & Brewery in honor of American Craft Beer Week.
