Caitlin Sandberg
Account Coordinator
Food has always been one of the main loves of Caitlin’s life, but it wasn’t until she went away to college that she realized her love of hospitality and public relations. While studying English at UC Davis, she worked as a cook at a small organic café, but rather than stay confined to the kitchen, she couldn’t help but be out on the floor, meeting the guests and gaining their feedback on her roast chicken or peach cobbler. It was also there, in that often-overlooked restaurant that she learned the importance of forging relationships in the community to increase business. Because the location of the café was off the beaten path, she decided to sign up for the local farmers’ market to increase visibility, and it worked! Almost ten years later the café is today a staple at the weekly market and business is booming.
After graduating, Caitlin ate her way across Southeast Asia while freelance food and travel writing to help fund her travels. Upon returning to San Francisco, she was a food and travel writer for VegNews Magazine where she was voted “best columnist” for two years in a row. Since then, she has continued freelancing while working in some of San Francisco’s best restaurants. Although she does not feel her travelling days are over, she considers herself lucky to call the Bay Area home, where the culinary diversity and proximity to wine country can’t be beat. Caitlin is happy to join the team at Ellipses PR where she can utilize her passions for food, wine and hospitality in a creative way.
