21 Questions – Cat Mclain

Caitlin Mclain (or Cat, as we call her in the office) is a recent Saint Mary’s College of California graduate and Southern California transplant. She spent the first five months with Ellipses as our intern and is now our newest Account Coordinator! We love her and we are so happy she has let us keep her. Read on to learn more about Cat.

 

  1. I first knew I wanted to be in PR when: I realized how much I loved what I was learning and how engaged I was in my PR class during my last semester of college. After working with my own client and seeing all the successes they had, I knew that this is what I wanted to do.
  2. My dream client: Either a hotel in Paris or Japan. I’ve always wanted to travel outside of North America and both countries have always fascinated me. If ever given the chance or opportunity, I would be ecstatic to immerse myself in both of their cultures and experience their lifestyles.
  3. If I weren’t in PR, I would be: Either a CIA agent, or sideline reporter for ESPN.
  4. Your biggest PR horror story: I have yet to have a PR horror story and hopefully it doesn’t happen anytime soon!
  5. My first job was:  Working holiday gift-wrap for Hansen’s – a surf shop in Southern California.
  6. My biggest accomplishment so far: I have two! Receiving my black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate and graduating with my B.A. this past Spring from Saint Mary’s College of California.
  7. Favorite social media platform: I really enjoy using Facebook because of how versatile it is. I can share my photos, stay in touch with my friends, and catch up on the latest news and occasional Hollywood gossip.
  8. My biggest pet peeve is: People not using their turn signal.
  9. Best movie I ever saw:  Braveheart
  10. Why I love my job, in three words: Best team ever!
  11. I’m secretly terrified of: Failure.
  12. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I watch: Say Yes to the Dress. I have a secret obsession with weddings even though I’m nowhere ready or close to getting married!
  13. Favorite place I’ve traveled to: Maui, Hawaii. My family and I vacation there every summer and it has become a second home to me. I’ve made a lot of friends, both tourists and residents, who always make my travels there a memorable and enjoyable experience.
  14. If I could go only go to one place before I die, I would go: To Ireland with my family. I grew up in a very Irish Catholic family and I would like to go back to our roots one day.
  15. If you could have dinner with anybody, alive or dead, who would it be: All of my grandparents. Each one of them has shaped me into the young lady I am today.
  16. EBooks or physical books:  PHYSICAL BOOKS! There is something really satisfying about turning the page by hand, especially if I am reading something suspenseful or intriguing.
  17. Favorite thing about the Bay Area? How diverse it is and how many activities there are going on all the time! There is always something new to explore or experience. The options here are ENDLESS!
  18. Top 3 most played songs on my iPod: Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys, Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones, and Lights by Journey.
  19. When I’m not working: You can find me watching sports or exploring the Bay Area!
  20. Favorite publication to read: Sunset magazine.
  21. Advice to future PR pros: Never stop being curious and never lose your enthusiasm. It is what has gotten me to where I am now, and what will continue to help me grow and excel in my field.
