DUMPLING TIME CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
WITH COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER AND NEW MENU ITEMS

SoMa dumpling restaurant gives back to the community and continues to surprise with the introduction of Wagyu gyoza and lamb Xi’an dumplings

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – May 10, 2018 – Dumpling Time, a neighborhood dumpling-and-beer house from Omakase Restaurant Group (ORG), is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a dumpling party and fundraiser on Wednesday, May 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. The anniversary celebration will feature multiple dumpling stations filled with customer favorites, and the debut of two stylish new dumplings: Wagyu gyoza and Xi’an dumplings with lamb filling. A percentage of the proceeds from the event will benefit On Lok, a family of community-based, non-profit organizations whose mission is to enable seniors to maintain a quality life in their communities.

“Dumpling Time has reached a huge milestone in its first year and we’re humbled by the enthusiasm of our guests, who enjoy our food as much as we do,” said ORG co-owner Kash Feng. “After being recognized in this year’s Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants by the San Francisco Chronicle, we’re excited to expand our menu and offer new, different style dumplings, like the Wagyu and Xi’an, while giving back to the community through our contribution to On Lok.”

The newest gyoza offering is made with Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef—a nod to ORG’s soon-to-be-announced steakhouse and butcher shop, which are slated to open at One Henry Adams later this year. The unconventional choice of Wagyu as a dumpling filling gives these gyoza a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Xi’an dumplings are a specialty of Xi’an, China, the native home of ORG co-owner Kash Feng. While lamb may seem like an unusual dumpling filling, it’s common in Xi’an due to the large Muslim community there, who favor lamb over pork. Like the pork and vegetable Xi’an dumplings already on the Dumping Time menu, the lamb dumpling recipe was inspired by Feng’s mom. Corporate Chef Edgar Agbayani has created his own interpretation with a touch of cumin and Chinese Five Spice.
