ROAM ARTISAN BURGERS TO OPEN NEW LOCATION IN UPTOWN OAKLAND

Fine casual burger establishment will serve great-tasting, sustainably sourced food in a welcoming, eco-conscious environment

OAKLAND, Calif.May 2, 2018 — Roam Artisan Burgers, a collection of fine casual dining destinations, will open its newest location in Uptown Oakland on May 11, the company’s second restaurant in the East Bay and fifth in California. The newly built restaurant, located at 1951 Telegraph Avenue, will offer delicious burgers, sides, shakes and sodas crafted from fresh, quality ingredients that have been carefully sourced from a select group of purveyors. The new restaurant joins two locations in San Francisco, one in Lafayette, and one in San Mateo, Calif.

Roam was founded in 2010 on the desire to serve great-tasting, nutrient-rich food at reasonable prices. Founders Joshua Spiegelman and Lynn Gorfinkle are entrepreneurs with a passion for delicious food and sustainability. Their mission in creating Roam is to enhance people’s lives through better eating. Spiegelman and Gorfinkle are part of pioneering the new and growing segment of better-for-you fast-casual dining establishments.

“We are excited to open in Uptown Oakland, a thriving arts and entertainment district,” said Spiegelman. “We are located a block away from the Fox and Paramount Theaters, and across the street from the 19th Street BART Station.  We are looking forward to joining this vibrant community and serving nutritious and delicious meals.”

Roam is committed to utilizing sustainable meats and produce, as well as other high-quality ingredients on its menu, which begins with 100% grass-fed beef, free-range turkey, all-natural bison, an organic veggie burger, and elk, a seasonal menu item. The customizable burgers and sides pair perfectly with Roam’s lineup of Straus Family Creamery shakes, house-made sodas, wine and kombucha on tap, and local brews.  This new location will feature seasonal favorites including a house-made raspberry soda and a Springtime Burger with chimichurri, fresh mozzarella, tomato, arugula and herb mayo.

Conscious of the environment, the Roam team consulted with PG&E’s Food Service Technology Center (FSTC) on the kitchen build out for the new location. The Oakland restaurant was built with power-conscious LED lighting, environmentally-sound fixtures and equipment and reclaimed wood. Roam is focused on composting and recycling, including ingredient-related reuse which allows the restaurant’s fry oil to be transformed into bio-fuel.

Designing Roam’s interior at the new Oakland location was a collaborative effort between the team at Roam and Arcanum Architecture, a San Francisco-based architecture and design firm. The space was built to create an upscale, rustic vibe that reflects the values of the company’s partners and purveyors. A Douglas Fir communal table that seats 14 people anchors the dining room, which features a mix of stainless steel, red accent stools, banquette seating and a chandelier fashioned from Straus Family Creamery milk bottles.  There will be indoor and outdoor dining at this location.

Roam Artisan Burgers in Oakland, located at 1951 Telegraph Avenue, will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
