The Apps You Need to Slay Your Instagram Game

Social media is hard to keep up with. Trust us, we know. After years of experience, we’ve gathered our top four go-to apps to be an Instagram pro. Make sure to check them all out and let us know which one you end up liking the most!

VSCO

Some prefer A Color Story, some prefer Snapseed, but we use VSCO for the majority of our photo editing needs. One specific thing about this app that we absolutely love is the ability to make your own presets. If you edit one photo and like how it turned out, you can copy the edits you made, name that editing sequence, and use it on other photos. This specific feature is great for creating a beautiful, cohesive, branded Instagram feed.

VSCO is not just a photo editing app – it’s also a social media platform in itself. You can create your own personal profile with the photos you upload and edit, which is great for giving you an idea of how your photos will look on your Instagram feed! You can also search through the app’s “Discover” feature and get inspiration for your next photo shoot. With this app, the possibilities are endless.

Facetune

…or the beginner’s Photoshop, as we like to call it. Most people use Facetune to smooth over a wrinkle, blur out a pimple, or even make themselves look more toned. Whether you’re on Instagram for your personal brand or another company’s brand, we highly recommend making yourself familiar with Facetune. It has all the tools you need to make that slightly imperfect photo perfect.

Here’s one way we’ve used Facetune for our clients:

Before: After:

By cleaning the sauce up on the plate and brightening the photo, we’ve made the photo more visually appealing. It took mere seconds with FaceTune!

Unfold (IG stories)

Ever wonder how those beautiful, stylized Instagram Stories are created? Don’t want to spend too much time creating a series of stories that will only be up for 24 hours anyway? Stop right there, download Unfold, and check it out.

Unfold “is a toolkit for storytellers.” It’s an app that has beautiful templates you can easily throw your photos into and get back great content you can use for Instagram Stories. The one downside is that the app only has a few free templates. The rest of the templates are available for purchase. But if you’re serious about upping your Stories game, this app is a timesaving miracle!

Canva

Canva is the Holy Grail of all social media content creation applications. You may remember our reference to Canva in another blog post, Five Key Takeaways from Social Shakeup 2019. Canva is a graphic design tool website and app that allows you to “create stunning designs with your photos and videos—even if you’re not a design expert!” With its plethora of templates, graphics and text designs to use, you can create any sort of design you can imagine. The best part? Canva has premade templates for Instagram feed posts and Instagram Stories! We love using Canva for our clients to spice up their newsfeed with giveaways, announcements and more.
